01. Why clients keep asking for updates
Clients ask for updates because they do not have visibility into project progress. The project is happening inside the agency's workspace, a system the client cannot access. The only way the client can know what is happening is to ask. This is a structural problem, not a communication failure. The client is not being unreasonable by asking. The agency is just not giving the client a way to find out without asking. A public status page solves this structurally: the client has a link that shows the current project status at any time. No asking required.
""We set up status pages for all active clients in one afternoon. The number of 'can you send me an update?' emails dropped to almost zero within two weeks.", Account manager, 9-person content agency"
02. Why giving clients workspace access creates problems
The obvious solution, add the client to the workspace, creates four problems:
- The client can see more than they should, internal tasks, other clients' projects, team discussions
- The client can accidentally change things, task statuses, deadlines, assignees
- Privacy issues between clients, Client A should not be able to see Client B's project
- Per-seat costs increase, some tools charge per user including clients
03. Public status page: what the client sees
The public status page is a read-only view of the project, accessible via a shareable link with no login required. The client sees: overall project completion percentage, task list organized by status (Done, In Progress, Pending), deadlines for open tasks, and a built-in real-time chat. The agency controls which tasks are visible on the status page, internal tasks can be excluded. Only the tasks the agency marks as client-visible appear.
04. Built-in client chat
The status page includes a built-in real-time chat widget. The client can ask questions, share feedback, or flag concerns directly from the status page, without switching to email. Messages in the client chat appear in the project's chat thread inside the workspace, so the team sees them immediately. There is no separate inbox to monitor. The client chat and the internal project communication happen in the same thread, visible from different interfaces.

05. How to set up the status page
Status page setup takes under 60 seconds:
- Open the project in Melororium
- Go to Project Settings
- Enable Public Status Page
- Copy the generated link and share it with the client
06. Public status page vs. the client portal on our roadmap
The public status page, live today, covers no-login, read-only updates, appropriate for most project updates. A fuller, login-based client portal (full task descriptions, file attachments, comment threads) is on our roadmap for high-touch client relationships with multiple stakeholders — not built yet. For most agencies, the public status page handles 80–90% of client update needs today. Until the client portal ships, Advanced User Roles (already live) can give a specific client a read-only view of their project inside the workspace.
07. Which plan includes the public status page
The public status page is included in all Melororium plans, starting with Starter at $29/month (4 users). There are no per-client fees for status pages, unlimited client links across all active projects.
